Farm on Mill Bank. The main Sunderland-Newcastle railway line ran under Mill Bank and a set of signal gantries is visible on this photo with a station just off Mill Rd. The Fulwell area was originally largely into farming but during the 1900s it rapidly became residential.

Sea Road. The Fulwell tram terminal was at the top of this road which led down to a small park on the sea front. In 1936 the Marina Cinema (1935) was built by the terminal and later the tram line was extended across the top of Sea Rd before turning down Dykelands Rd to a new seafront terminal close to but not connected with the end of the existing Roker/Seaburn line .
