Thomas Forster grocer, 11 Frances St in 1902.
TF first appears in the records as a grocer at 6 N Railway St in 1873, around 1879 he also had a shop in Back North Tce.
By 1899 he still had the N Railway St shop and also this one in Frances St and continued trading from both until around 1910 when his sons took over. This shop was taken over by Robert Forster.
Robert Forster, son of Thomas who owned this shop previously, grocer and photographic dealer at 11 Frances St. c1909.
By 1938/9 he was also trading from 49 Marlborough Street
George Close outside his fish and chip shop at 27 Henry St (W side of street). He traded from here from 1910 certainly until c1925 (from 1925 the shop was listed as belonging to George William Close, possibly his son)
GWC was still trading here in 1938 and probably until this side of Henry St was demolished in the slum clearance of the 1950s?.
G Close born 1888 died 1963. Photo c 1910.
The info above has to be incorrect as George would have to be only 22 in this photograph.
