Looking NE to Seaton Village from the burn around 1900, the land to the right along the stream is common land.
This gated road shown here was a coach road in the 17th and 18th centuries, possibly earlier. It ran from the top of the Times Inn bank (northern end) through Seaton Village, Burdon Village and Tunstall before rejoining the Stockton Rd near Thornhill. The next photograph STN 002 shows this road on a map of 1701.
There are five articles on Seaton Village to be found under Histories/C A Smith Articles.
