The Elliot Galer, her coxwain, William Miller (front left with hand on tiller) served on the Sisters Carter of Harrogate, the Skynner, the Bradford Reserve which was in Seaham only from 1908 to 1911 and the Elliot Galer. A lifeboatman from 1885 to 1919.
The Elliot Galer rescued the 13 man crew of the Londonderry steamer Stewart's Court which had been sunk by a German submarine off Easington in August 1918
The Elizabeth Wills Allen, photographed here on her arrival in Seaham in 1936. She was replaced by the George Elmy in 1950 having saved 17 lives including the surviving crew of the Carmarthen Coast which had struck a mine off Seaham in November 1939.
