The Sisters Carter of Harrogate, Seaham's first RNLI lifeboat on her arrival in September 1870. She replaced the Friend of all Nations which had been bought by public subscription in 1854, this boat had been kept in a boathouse on the Terrace Beach but had proved too heavy to launch across the beach. This picture is transparent oils on a photograph painted in the 1870s
