The beach before1861. At this time the two columns of the Featherbed Rock were joined but the central portion must have collapsed in the 1860s or possibly 70s as all photographs I have seen show the columns separate.

The old lighthouse in 1860. The buildings etc below the lighthouse are probably a ship building yard, certainly the iron ship "Linthorpe" was built here in 1884.
