Looking west in Dalton le Dale ( church behind the red car ). The tall building on the right is the old vicarage, probably built in 1370 with the upper storey being reached by an outside staircase. In 1670 the vicar at the time, Thomas Sharpe partially rebuilt the vicarage, adding the west end and placing a stone above the door bearing his name and the date. Purchased in the late 1950's by Frank Thubron it was demolished in Sept 1962, not because of it's condition but to facilitate entry to garages on their land.
