St Mary the Virgin, old Seaham in 1910. Built in 7/8 century, probably on the site of an earlier wooden structure.

The Rev. Angus Bethune of St John's Church (Seaham Harbour) and St Mary the Virgin Church at old Seaham, preached until his death aged 97 in 1908. He became the first vicar of St John's in 1845 when Seaham Harbour was declared a separate incumbency to Dalton le Dale.
