Hello, in this new section we will try to keep you up to date on what is happening, not happening, or we would like to happen on the site. Please let us know if there is anything you would like to see on the site or anything you could add, photographs, memories or additions/corrections to captions. Lastly, why is everyone so shy? Only one in every 2000 or so visitors leaves a message or asks a question on the forum or guest book though many more contact directly, we can usually help with anything to do with the Greater Seaham area

Seaham Medical, Sanitary and Housing Report 1933.

A comprehensive view of the town. Bear in mind that most situations found satisfactory or good in 1933 would be far from it today.

Many thanks to Mick Smith who spent time trying to digitise this document after I had failed. In the end the easy solution was a pdf.

North East Industries Through Time

Stafford M. Linsley

North East Industries Through Time is a unique insight into the history of industry this part of England. Reproduced in full colour, this is an exciting examination of industries which were once not only the mainstay of the country’s economy but also the only source of income for thousands of families.

The book illustrates some of the changes in North East industry over the past 100 years or so, including from a coal mine site to a football stadium, a power station to a church, a blacksmith’s shop to a Chinese restaurant.

RRP £14.99  but a Google search for Stafford Linsley Through Time will bring up many stockists. The best deal I could see was at  www.play.com  £11.44 post free.
