The "New Town", as it still gets called today, Kirklea field and housing to the right of it (Seaham Road). The other areas around the field are known as Upper and Lower Racecourse Estate. Houghton Council Offices, this building still stands today but is now used as a Social Services Department. A new building, by Gentoo, is situated on the corner of Newbottle Street and Station Road.
