Just after the war my brothers and I with other lads from Blackhall Rocks used to dam the beck with stones and grass sods and play in the pool when it was deep enough we used to jump off the waterfall into it I think a lot of lads and girls learned to swim in this pool, there was always plenty of water in the stream those days as most was pumped out of Castle Eden Colliery.
In the background you can see the altent's which were hired out by ERDC for 5 shillings per day, they had a table and 4 chairs in them. Many happy days were spent in the dene.
